ADOLESCENT AND YOUTH ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME
In 2022, while engaging with adolescent girls at a local church in rural Teso North, a heartbreaking truth hit us: schools were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and unlike their urban peers, these girls had no access to digital learning. For many, school wasnʼt just a place of education it was a sanctuary. Now, they faced isolation, shattered dreams, and homes weighed down by hardship.
Moved by their stories, we began small gatherings first around learning, then around life. These became safe spaces where girls could play, share, and reclaim hope. At the same time, we saw unemployed youth returning from towns, searching for purpose and opportunity. Beyond the pandemic, we continue to witness systemic gaps from lack of digital access and inclusive SRHR education, to vocational programmes that donʼt prepare youth for real-world opportunities. Out of this, Jenga AfriHub was born. Jenga means to build in Swahili and that is exactly what we are striving to do. We build confidence, build skills, build futures.
We exist to empower underserved youth and adolescent girls and with the tools, support, and voice to shape their own paths. Today, Jenga AfriHub stands as a homegrown solution rooted in our community, led by lived experience, and driven by a bold belief that: when youth are supported with the right skills, knowledge, and confidence, they donʼt just survive they lead change.
