At Jenga AfriHub, we champion four strategic thematic areas designed to address the interconnected challenges facing adolescents and youth in Teso North. Each area responds to a specific gap — in knowledge, skills, safety, or leadership — and is delivered through community-rooted programmes, partnerships, and youth-centred approaches.
Adolescent & Youth SRHR
Border communities in Teso North face compounded vulnerabilities — early marriage, teen pregnancy, gender-based violence, and limited access to accurate sexual and reproductive health information. Jenga AfriHub's SRHR programmes equip adolescents with knowledge, agency, and support systems to navigate these realities and claim their rights.
Back to School Campaign
A joint campaign with SFN Africa, supported by World Vision Kenya, delivering integrated health services directly in schools across Teso North. The campaign provides HIV and cancer screening, SRHR and SGBV awareness sessions, and established functional referral pathways linking students to county health services.
By bringing health workers and community health volunteers into school settings, the campaign reduces the stigma around seeking care and normalises health-seeking behaviour among adolescents who would otherwise have no access to these services.
Sauti Zetu — Our Voices
An EU-funded SRHR awareness programme for adolescents aged 10–16, operating through ten disability-inclusive school clubs. Sauti Zetu uses creative expression — art, drama, poetry, and sport — as entry points to discuss reproductive health, consent, and personal safety in age-appropriate ways.
The disability-inclusive design ensures that young people living with disabilities are active participants, not afterthoughts. Club facilitators are trained peer educators drawn from the communities they serve.

Vision: A generation of informed, empowered youth who can make healthy decisions, access quality services, and advocate for their own rights.
Skills & Livelihood Pathways
The Malaba border economy is dynamic but exclusionary — informal trade thrives while youth, especially young women, remain locked out of formal economic participation. Without marketable skills or pathways into employment, many are forced into precarious livelihoods. Jenga AfriHub bridges this gap through vocational training, enterprise development, and strategic TVET partnerships.
Beyond Stitches — SHOFCO Partnership
A flagship skills programme delivered in partnership with SHOFCO (Shining Hope for Communities), providing tailoring, design, and entrepreneurship training for young women. Participants graduate with practical skills, business literacy, and access to start-up support to launch micro-enterprises.
Beyond Stitches is designed as a dignity-affirming programme — participants are treated as entrepreneurs-in-training, not aid recipients, with an emphasis on market linkages and peer networks that outlast the training cycle.
TVET Partnerships
Jenga AfriHub works with local Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions to expand access to accredited skills training for out-of-school youth. Partnerships focus on practical trades with strong local demand — construction, agribusiness, hospitality, and ICT.
Scholarship bursaries and mentorship linkages reduce the financial and social barriers that prevent marginalised youth from accessing and completing TVET programmes.

Vision: Youth in Teso North who are economically active, financially independent, and able to invest in their families and communities.
Tech Innovation & Digital Readiness
The digital frontier is expanding rapidly across East Africa — but for youth in border communities, connectivity brings both opportunity and risk. Misinformation, online exploitation, cyberbullying, and scams disproportionately affect young people with limited digital literacy. Jenga AfriHub equips youth to navigate the digital world safely and confidently.
Safe Clicks Digital Safety Campaign
An EU-funded digital safety campaign delivered through community barazas, school sessions, and TVET masterclasses. Safe Clicks covers online privacy, safe social media use, recognising misinformation, digital consent, and reporting mechanisms for online harm.
Fifty trained Digital Champions — young people drawn from target communities — serve as peer educators who extend the campaign's reach beyond formal sessions into everyday conversations among their peers.
The campaign is designed to be accessible to youth with varying literacy levels, using visual content, role-play scenarios, and locally relevant case studies to make digital safety tangible and actionable.

Mentorship & Youth Leadership
Exclusion is not only economic — it is psychological. Many young people in Teso North lack role models, safe spaces for reflection, and structured opportunities to develop as leaders. Jenga AfriHub invests in mentorship and leadership as essential infrastructure for community transformation.
Bonga na Mayouth
A dynamic youth dialogue platform creating open, facilitated spaces for conversation on mental health, livelihoods, leadership, and civic engagement. Youth are active participants and co-designers, not just beneficiaries — sessions are co-planned with young people and respond to issues they identify as priorities.
School & Community Mentorship Spaces
Structured mentorship programmes embedded in secondary schools and community centres across Teso North. Trained mentors — older youth and young professionals from the region — work with students on goal-setting, life skills, career awareness, and resilience, meeting regularly over an academic term.
Youth Leadership Summit
An annual convening bringing together young leaders from across Teso North for skills workshops, networking, and community project planning. The Summit surfaces youth voices on local development priorities and creates cohorts of young changemakers who support each other throughout the year.

MMUST Partnership — Research & Evidence
Jenga AfriHub partners with Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) to embed research, monitoring, and evidence generation into our programme delivery. This partnership ensures our work is grounded in rigorous data and continuously improved through learning.
MMUST researchers co-design baseline and endline assessments, support programme evaluations, and contribute to knowledge products that document what works for youth development in border communities. The partnership also creates placement and research opportunities for MMUST students within Jenga AfriHub's programmes.
Together, we are building a localised evidence base that strengthens the case for sustained investment in youth programming in Teso North and contributes to national and regional learning on adolescent development.
