The People Behind the Work

Jenga AfriHub is led by its founder and powered by a dedicated volunteer structure rooted entirely in Teso North. Every person involved lives and works in the communities we serve.

Founder & Executive Director

Marian Murunga

Marian Murunga founded Jenga AfriHub in 2022 after witnessing first-hand how girls in Teso North were left behind during the COVID-19 pandemic — cut off from school, information, and opportunity. Driven by the belief that young women can lead their own change, she established a grassroots hub that has since reached over 1,000 adolescents and young people across five wards. Marian leads the organisation's strategy, fundraising, and partnerships, and is the primary programme lead across all of Jenga AfriHub's initiatives.

Volunteer Structure

Jenga AfriHub's programmes are delivered by three categories of trained volunteers — all recruited from and accountable to the communities they serve.

Core Volunteer Team

A dedicated group of community volunteers who support programme delivery, community outreach, and day-to-day operations across Ang'urai and Malaba wards. Core volunteers are the backbone of Jenga AfriHub's reach and are trained in safeguarding, programme facilitation, and community engagement.

Digital Champions

Fifty trained peer educators who serve as the frontline of the Safe Clicks Digital Safety Campaign. Digital Champions lead community barazas, conduct masterclasses at TVETs, and deliver online safety education to their peers across Teso North. They are selected for their commitment, communication skills, and community trust.

Sauti Zetu Champions

Young advocates who anchor Jenga AfriHub's Sauti Zetu SRHR programme in 10 school clubs across the sub-county. Sauti Zetu Champions create safe spaces for adolescents aged 10–16 to discuss reproductive health, engage in creative expression, and build the confidence to navigate issues that affect their lives. The programme is disability-inclusive.

Board of Directors
